Daverio (Varese) – Founded as a printing house in 1850 in Rho, it has made packaging history , from a family business to a world leader in the flexible packaging sector. Goglio SpA, located in Daverio, in the province of Varese, has a 175-year success story. The Group is still led by the Goglio family today, has production facilities in Italy, the Netherlands, the United States, China, and Brazil, and sales offices in Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia. In 2024, it recorded a production value of €470 million and employs 2,210 people worldwide. It was also with them and their families that the company celebrated this important milestone yesterday morning.
"This celebration isn't just a milestone, but above all, it demonstrates the passion that drives our work every day," said Franco Goglio, President and CEO of Goglio . "Our success is directly proportional to the dedication of the people who contribute to the company's growth. We will continue to look to the future with ambition and responsibility, placing sustainability and innovation at the heart of our strategies."
Carlo Goglio opened a printing press in 1850 to produce paper bags for food, including printed ones, soon joined by pre-formed bags. The first mechanized production processes began in the early 1900s, and in 1920 a new factory opened on Via Solari in Milan, which is still operating today. The turning point came in the postwar period, during the economic boom, when the company was among the pioneers in the use of flexible plastic laminates.
In the 1960s, it introduced a unique system combining machinery, materials, and plastic packaging accessories: the Fres-co System, which still distinguishes the Group's offering today. Another successful milestone came in 1968 when it patented an innovation that would change the global coffee market: the one-way degassing valve, which allows gases to escape while preserving the properties of packaged coffee. Innovation and sustainability: in recent years, the company has developed "ready for recycling" products, compostable capsules, and solutions with reduced environmental impact.
